After installing Screenplay Editor from the Google Workspace Marketplace, open any Google Doc and go to Extensions → Screenplay Editor to access the sidebar.

How do I format a scene heading?

Click on "Scene Heading" in the sidebar or use the keyboard shortcut. Type your scene heading (e.g., "INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY") and it will be formatted automatically.

Can I collaborate with others?

Yes! Since Screenplay Editor works within Google Docs, you get all the collaboration features you're used to — real-time editing, comments, suggestion mode, and sharing.

How do I export my script?

Use the Export button in the sidebar to export your script as a PDF or Fountain file. The exported file will be saved to your Google Drive.

Is my script private?

Absolutely. Screenplay Editor doesn't send your content anywhere. Your script stays in your Google Doc, and exports go directly to your Google Drive. We never see your work.

Does Screenplay Editor work offline?

Screenplay Editor requires an internet connection to function, as it runs within Google Docs. However, Google Docs' offline mode may allow limited functionality.

Is Screenplay Editor free?

Yes, Screenplay Editor is completely free to use.
